Plumbing Questions, Answered

The questions Tuscarawas County homeowners ask us most — about water heaters, drains, leaks and what to do in an emergency.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should a water heater last?
Most conventional tank water heaters last somewhere between 8 and 12 years. Hard water shortens that, and Tuscarawas County has plenty of hard water. If your unit is in that age range and you are starting to see rusty water, popping noises or a shorter hot water supply, it is worth having it looked at before it fails outright.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
A drain that clears and then clogs again within weeks usually has something more going on than a simple blockage — grease buildup on the pipe walls, root intrusion in the main line, or a section of pipe that has bellied or offset. A camera inspection tells us which, so the repair addresses the cause instead of the symptom.
How do I know if I have a hidden leak?
The usual signs are a water bill that jumped without a change in use, the sound of running water with everything shut off, warm or damp spots on floors and walls, and a musty smell. If you suspect one, shut off every fixture and check whether the water meter is still moving.
What should I do about frozen pipes?
Shut off the water at the main and open the affected faucet before you do anything else, so there is somewhere for the pressure to go as it thaws. Do not use an open flame. If a pipe has already burst, or you cannot locate the frozen section, call us.
What determines the cost of a plumbing repair?
Mainly the part, the access and the time. A cartridge swap on an accessible faucet is a very different job from a leak under a slab. That is why we give a free estimate first: you see the number before any work starts, rather than after.
How does a video camera sewer inspection work?
We feed a camera on a flexible line into the sewer and watch the inside of the pipe on a monitor. It shows breaks, root intrusion, bellies and offsets, and it locates them, so if a repair is needed we dig in one targeted place instead of exploring.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free, and you see the number before any work starts.
What should I do about an urgent plumbing problem?
If water is actively leaking, shut off your home’s main water valve first to stop the flow. Then call us rather than using the contact form — we prioritize urgent repairs during our working hours.
Is your work warrantied?
Yes. Our work is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
Do you work on commercial buildings?
We specialise in residential plumbing for homeowners across Tuscarawas County. If you are not sure whether your situation fits, give us a call and we will tell you straight.
